Interstitial Cystitis Awareness Month!

It is IC awareness month and I thought it was appropriate to update everyone on my progress....

I have now been on the ViSalus- Body By Vi Challenge since May.  I can honestly say that it is the best thing to ever happen to me for many reasons.  I don't typically believe in miracle cures- especially when there are organizations out there looking for a cure and can't seem to find one.  Maybe I am lucky or maybe ViSalus is on to something nothing short of a miracle!  I am happy to report that I am still symptom free!  For those who do not have IC- imagine getting up 20+ times a night to pee- even on sleep aids!  Imagine horrible pain and discomfort!  Imagine not enjoying intercourse with your partner!  All of these symptoms and many more are very real for a person with IC.

I was going to the doctor weekly for treatment that didn't really work well for me.  My other option was a more invasive procedure that would involve anesthesia or the implant of a foreign object (which did not thrill me by any means)!  I started using ViSalus for weight loss since I am still trying to lose the last of my baby weight.  Little did I know or expect that the product would help me with more than just weight management!
I am still amazed that I saw a noticeable difference in just three days of being on the product and by the end of the first week I was sleeping through the night without any sleep aids!  Coming from someone that was on heavy prescription sleep aids for years this change was HUGE!
I still need to find a way to communicate this amazing find with my doctor.  Any suggestions on how to do that would be appreciated.  I called the office and left a message but I doubt the nurse took me seriously and probably didn't even give him the message.  I was thinking of writing a letter and hoping to hear from him.  I think that he not only needs to know my experience but I think he also could look at the product and maybe give me some insight as to why I have gotten better.  I am thrilled and so grateful but I can't help but wonder- why???  What is in this stuff that cured me?  Is it just the shakes or the shakes along with the vitamins that made the difference- needless to say I'm not planning on stopping either one!
Since my last post about IC I got an email from someone that read my post.  She also had tried ViSalus and it had cured all her symptoms as well.  I don't think it is a coincidence that two people are now symptom free! I want to reach out the IC community and spread the word about this amazing find!

I've been posting a lot about ViSalus and the Body by Vi challenge this week.

Goodbye Interstitial Cystitis!

Let's get personal....

I was diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis AKA "IC" when I was in 9th grade- I battled with it on and off for years.  About two years ago I had an IC flare like never before.  I only had to deal with pain when I was in high school- now I had to deal with unbelievable frequency.  I went from getting up 2-3 times a night, to at my worst point getting up every 10-15 minutes.  My husband remembers me crying in the middle of the night from sheer exhaustion and frustration.  I had to go on Ambien just to get some relief and unfortunately still had to be on some type of sleep aid when I was pregnant with my daughter.  

I eventually came to except IC and that it would always be a part of my life.  My doctor and I tried everything from mediations (multiple different ones), diet change and bladder installations.

Why is this strange??

I work for a company that is changing lives.... I get calls, texts and emails with people thanking me for positively impacting there life.... I'm getting healthy....   I'm getting my family healthy.... I'm getting people off major medications.... Why is this strange?????  

I posted an overview on my new adventure with ViSalus.  However, I'm amazed at how negative people are about something that is changing lives.  I have to except that not everyone thinks like me- but when you find out there is a company that is the largest of its kind, who is helping people get healthy and in some cases saving lives- why wouldn't you want to be a part of it????  I'm just sayin....
The company can't promise that you will lose weight, gain weight or suddenly become a healthy individual- but when there are numerous testimonies from people that in some cases you may personally know- how is it possible to not be intrigued?
I'm going to make this simple...
I personally or know someone personally that is experiencing the following:

• Weight loss
• Desired weight gain- muscle gain
• A good nights rest
• A calm mind
• A clear head- ALL DAY LONG!  
• Going off major medications- including cholesterol meds, blood pressure meds, narcotic pain meds etc...
• People who were in need is surgery are now no longer needing the procedure

That Pyramid Thing!

Yes I am involved with a pyramid company- yes I am promoting a product on my own- yes I am becoming my own boss and leaving corporate America- and yes I am so happy about it!

Dilemmas! Advice Needed!

It has been literally months since my last post...  So much time has passed I don't even know where to begin.
Well.... I'm now a Mommy and can honestly say there is nothing greater in this world.  I was convinced that as soon as I had Alayna I would have time to blog about my experience with labor.  Well when you become a Mom you soon realize it is hard to make time for these things, and well my labor was so horrific I thought I might frighten future Moms :)  My labor story will have to wait for another day.... But I'm sure when I write it heads will spin LOL. Posts about labor and the first few weeks/ months of Mommyhood to come soon!
Today I need some advice...
See I originally started this blog because I am a crazy busy girl that was becoming a Mommy, all while going back to school for nursing.  Well... things have changed... I'm still a busy Mommy- but no school.  After Alayna was born a few things happened that prevented me from continuing my education, and honestly I'm a little grateful.  Thank God I only took 3 classes instead of being in the middle of a nursing program!
Here is my dilemma....  I am that girl that is interested in EVERYTHING!  I'm like a younger Martha Stewart!  I garden, I write, I cook, I bake, I decorate, I design, I plan organize and plan some more- the list goes on!  Those who know me well know all this to be true.  I changed my major several times in college because of this dilemma and it is still haunting me.  When am I going to be all grown up with a career?  I fear that wont happen until I figure out what it is I really want to do....  Any thoughts for a girl who does it all?  I wish I could just list a job that I feel would make me happy, and then pursue whatever educational path it would take to obtain that career.  There is only one thing I do know- I know who I want to work for....

Second dilemma....  I truly feel in my heart of hearts that I wont feel fulfilled until I am once again a Disney Cast Member.  You see I was an intern for Disney twice and it was the most amazing time of my life (2nd to having my daughter).  There are no words that can describe the feeling of being "part of the magic".  For those of you who were lucky enough to work there you know what I mean- for those that haven't let me just say it is the most amazing feeling to know you are part of something that great.  The only way to possibly understand is to see the look on a child's face when they find out they are going to Disney for the first time- look on youtube- there are family videos that will bring you to tears.  Remember that Disney commercial- "I'm too excited to sleep"?  Yea its like that- and you know you are part of the reason they feel the way they do.  Standing watching the "Wishes" fireworks show in front of the castle gets me every time.  And not just because it is a great show- which by the way- its AMAZING.  It gets me because I look around at all the families and the kids- I see it bring a tear to someones eye and more importantly I listen to the words.  Not only are those words beautiful- you know Disney as a company truly believes in those words- if they didn't they would be just like every other entertainment company- but there is only one Disney!
So these are my dilemmas- I'm interested in everything and I wont rest until I am "part of the magic" again.  How I'll proceed from here- who knows....  If you have any thoughts please let me know- in the meantime I'm going to continue enjoying my family- which by the way- our little girl is 6 months old already!  6 weeks from now she will understand why her Mommy loves Disney so much- because she is getting her very first "My 1st visit" pin when we check in at Animal Kingdom Lodge!

I finally let it go...

I took a leap of faith this week.  Something that I have held in for five years I finally got out and put it on paper.  Have you ever held anything in for so long you couldn’t even find the words to say how you feel?  Have you ever been so hurt you couldn’t find the words to explain your pain?  Have you ever turned to someone for help and it only ended in disappointment because the only one who can help is yourself?

I’ve always been the type that really doesn’t like confrontation, but will stand up and fight when it is absolutely necessary.  I’m just like my Mom- Irish.  We are quiet people most of the time- push us over our limit and your lucky if we can forgive.  This was the first time in my life I didn’t stand up when it was absolutely necessary.  I went against everything I believe in and stayed quiet.  The funny part is…. I have no idea why.  I think it just snow-balled over time and the problem got so huge I didn’t know how to handle it.  Just like in a previous post- I had to learn to forgive myself and this time I did something about it.

This week it dawned on me that there was nothing anyone could do to help.  I had to deal with this myself.  As much as I would have given anything to have had the help of a loved one by my side, I really feel that it would have diluted what I was needing to say.  Am I a coward for doing this in writing- I don’t think I am.  Confronting someone can be hard; they have to be willing to listen until you are done, understand you fully, absorb what you had to say and then respond hopefully in a respectful manner.  Well when you know for a fact that the person would not understand or respect what you had to say, more the likely be filled with interruptions and in the end get you no where; I’m thinking the written word is best. 

You see with writing you can get out what you had to say, read what you had to say and edit what you had to say.  The other person can read what you wrote, get mad about what you wrote, re-read what you wrote, and after a few times maybe a little anger will go away and understanding will hit them- one can only hope. 

So two days ago I sat down and wrote.  I wrote hard and long- smoke coming off of the keyboard hard.  I never thought I would know where to start.  But I was able to put five years of pain into two pages, signed, sealed and delivered in just one afternoon.   It was amazing that it wasn’t a tearful process.  I cried once while reading it for the first time at a particularly emotional part- a part that would bring any parent to tears.

I have yet to know what the outcome is.  You see I left it in their hands.  The funny part is, I don’t know if I care about the outcome anymore.  For the first time in five years I can honestly say without a doubt that I have done literally everything I could.  They tell you all anyone can expect from you is the best you could do.  This is my best.  I put my heart out there more than I ever had before, I went against my Irish roots and offered forgiveness but only with the exchange of respect, and more importantly than anything else I offered to forget all that has happened with the sign of change.
